We are knowledgeable about the importance of human milk for the NICU and or hospitalized baby.  This talk focuses on how important care of the mother is during this vulnerable time. 
The importance of human milk for the NICU and/ or hospitalized baby is well known.  This talk focuses on how important care of the mother is during this vulnerable time. We will explore the four stages of transitioning to motherhood and how that differs for the NICU mother/neonatal dyad. We will also discuss how social media affects the maternal/neonatal dyad and how parental role alteration affect motherhood for the NICU maternal/neonatal dyad. By the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to describe how emotional, psychological, and physical difficulties impact the NICU mother and distinguish maternal expectation on the promotion of breastmilk for the nutritional and proactive features.
