Welcome to Ohio summertime!  Hot and HUMID.  Hopefully you have found ways to stay cool and have some fun too!

Planning is underway for our next conference, our 25^th year!!  That's reason to CELEBRATE!  We are looking for your feedback on ways OLCA has helped you achieve your goals to support lactation in Ohio.  We would also love to hear from you on how OLCA can continue “our mission to be a voice for Ohio Lactation Consultants in their efforts to transform society into a breastfeeding culture.” Please email me at president@ohio-olca.org

I'm enjoying my new role as President and feel very humbled indeed.  It's great to have all the support from the past presidents, and board members.  I have been told by the time you learn the role, it's time to move on!  I'm sure it's true. 

One thing I will say is we are very blessed with people who are incredibly dedicated to our goals and have given so much time and energy for many years!  Chris Smith, Jennifer Foster, Allyson Wessells, Laura Atkinson, Amber Clary, Debbi Smith-Moore, Missy Courts, Amber Sheeks, Amy Thomas, Brittney Gibson,  Mary Ann Blatz, Sylvia Ellison are a few of those people!  Please thank them personally as possible.

We are always looking for willing volunteers to fill roles and share the load.  Even if you feel like you don't have particular skills, don't hesitate to reach out.  You do NOT need to be an IBCLC for many roles.  We would love for WIC peers, CLC's, and others interested in supporting breastfeeding to come on board.  We will train and encourage you too.  And you may be able to help me with some tech issues, that would be wonderful!!  To volunteer, see link and fill out the online form.

In closing, the days can be long but the years short.  Please let your people know how much you love and appreciate them. We are not guaranteed tomorrow.  Be in your moments with your hearts and minds.  Please take GOOD CARE!
