OLCA goes "green"

Please share any ideas or suggestions how OLCA or any other breastfeeding supportive groups can follow the lead of breastfeeding and reduce the packaging, paper usage, energy or any other carbon reducing activites. We will be posting ideas in the Headline section of the web site. Look for the "Going Green" contest coming next Spring!

Our "sister Partner" in Africa renewed for 2009

OLCA is again sponsoring the ILCA membership for Jean Whitaker, from Malawi, Africa. She is a midwife and lactation conultant, and teaches prenatal, birth and breastfeeding classes in her community. I am sharing some of the thank you letter we received from her:

We have vegetable gardens and one village has one to sell commercially so they can make money for needs in the village. I also pick up clinic staff and take them to do well child health clinic and Ante Natal clinic at at school the ladies from the village cannot walk 15 Kl to go for checks. This month I am getting some Rabbits so the village can breed them for food and sale. I do put a letter out each 2 months if you wish to receive it, I would just say that it put out as a letter for those who pray for me so if you don't mind that you are welcome to get it.
Thank your group for their kindness.
Greetings
Jean

She has offered to stay in touch with her "sister partners" here in Ohio. If you would like to offer any help or just keep in touch, you can email her at: jean.whittaker@sim.org
